The London Grill Club
The idea of having a cheap lunch and interviewing an interesting guest came to David Selves in his bath! He says many of his best ideas have. A play on the English language. A mixed grill for lunch following which he uses lunchers questions as the basis of interviewing and grilling the guest.
The early Grills were instigated as a part of the London Press Club’s programme of events. However with potential sensitivity of some issues and guests the London Grill Club is now an entity in its own right with no political or industry allegiances.

He was in his mid sixties when he had the idea when are thinking about a quieter life, but not David Selves! A serial entrepreneur who started work at 15, he took over a rundown pub next door to his house and turned it into an Award Winning success. He is a Deputy Chairman of the London Press Club where he started the Grill Club which is now an entity in its own right as The London Grill Club - where he puts important people to the flame with guests questions.
With his success in hospitality he created a Boutique Hotel and fine dining restaurant from another pub 2014. But he continued arranging funding and risk money for business and industry particularly in the property sector. The pub was sold in 2017 at the height of its success and when he sold the Faversham Creek Hotel in July 2018, it had 4 stars and 2 AA Rosettes. A top forty author he is also an accomplished and acclaimed after dinner speaker who chairs debates and discussions in a style that brings to life the topics at hand. He will long be remembered for his closing question to the American Ambassador Lois Susman when interviewing him ten days after the 2012 Presidential Elections, His closing question on Downton Abbey to the American drew the response, “No comment!” Something Ambassador Susman had always wanted to reply but never had!
One of the three founding fathers of the Faversham Food Festival, which began in 2014 and is now a major annual event, he still finds time to play cricket, both at home and abroad on Oldies Tours, and for his eight grandchildren.
